Why Group Supervision Matters

Most interns, new grads and therapists in private practice spend the majority of their work alone in the room with clients. When things get complex, it’s common to find yourself wondering: • Am I handling this ethically? • How should I document this? • Am I missing something here? • How would another clinician think about this? Group supervision creates space to slow things down, step back, and think more clearly. It’s where you refine your clinical reasoning, stay grounded in your role, and get perspective on situations that don’t always have obvious answers.

Who this is for

This space is designed for counsellors who: • current interns, new grads and therapists working in Canadian private practice or community settings • encounter ethical or documentation questions • want collegial supervision, consultation and reflection • value thoughtful discussion of complex cases

What this space is NOT

Group supervision sessions are NOT designed for • crisis case management • replace formal individual clinical supervision  • legal advice for active litigation Instead, the focus is reflective supervision, consultation and ethical clinical reasoning.

About the facilitator

Becky Palmer, RCC Becky Palmer is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and clinical lead of a group practice who regularly supports clinicians through consultation, documentation review, supervision, and complaint-related situations. Her work focuses on helping therapists strengthen ethical reasoning, documentation clarity, and reflective practice.

Therapists often bring questions such as:

• “How should I document this situation?” • “Is this a boundary crossing or a boundary violation?” • “How should I respond to this client complaint or difficult email?” • “What would another clinician do in this situation?” If you want a thoughtful space to explore complex clinical situations and strengthen your clinical reasoning, group supervsion can be a valuable part of your professional practice.
